Hay Cookies

Do you have a lot of leftover hay and pellets which your guinea pigs do not show any interest in eating anymore? Before throwing them away, consider making them into hay cookies which can be baked and enjoyed by your piggies! Combining ingredients such as hay, pellets, oat and honey, these cookies have been a hit with most of the guinea pigs during events and they can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Do give this recipe a try!
How to make hay cookies
1 cup of pellets (Burgess & Oxbow Natural Science pellets are used here)
1/2 cup of Organic Rolled Oats
1 cup of leftover hay
The main ingredients
Soaked organic sugar-free dried cranberries
2 tablespoons of pure honey (amount can be reduced acccordingly)
Pour in cranberries and the liquid used to soak the cranberries. Pour in enough to wet the pellets.
Pour in oats and mix.
Mash the pellets, oats and cranberries.
Mix in hay.
Hay cookie dough!
Take some and press to fill abt 1/4 height of cookie cutter
Press into shape
Bake at 200 C in the oven for about 30 minutes. Check after 15 mins to ensure they are not burnt. Enjoy!
